More than half of
our congregation attend a home group which meet regularly in homes around
the parish. They are small groups of people committed to learn and grow
together, worshipping God and sharing their struggles and questions.
Each group has a leader or co-ordinator and responsibilities for
activities are shared among the members with a termly timetable that
encourages contributions from each person. Over recent months we have
taken on the values attributed to Cell Church
which include:
Value 1 everyone involved
Tasks are shared everyone can participate
It helps you to grow in confidence
The leaders dont do everything
Serving each other builds relationships.
Value 2 becoming disciples
Growing in maturity by applying teaching
Being honest and sharing our struggles
Being accountable to one another
Learning in a safe environment.
Value 3 creating community
Being part of a loving, accepting community
Being committed to regular time together
Encouraging and serving one another
Enjoying social time!
Value 4 active evangelism
Praying for those who we want to become Christians
Building relationships and sharing faith naturally
Bless, belong, believe, behave
Who led you to Christ were they friends first?
Value 5 encountering God
Expect God to be present at our meetings
Be blessed by personal encounter with Him
Giving God space to bless is important
Without Him, its just a nice meeting.
Typically the weekly study follows on from the Sunday sermon, which gives
groups the opportunity to discuss the issues raised in more depth and to
challenge each other as to how they may be applied to our lives.
It is usual that home group members are regular members of the
congregation first. If you would like to discuss this further, please
